Spring by the Seas: Spring Events in St. Augustine

    Celebrate spring by the seas in St. Augustine. This glorious time is filled with flowers, festivals, Easter egg hunts, parades and art shows. The oldest city in the United States puts a spring in your step with their family-friendly events and activities. Here are seven exciting events for all ages to enjoy this April in St. Augustine.

    1. Flower & Garden Expo


    Spring is in the air at the Garden Club of St. Augustin April 1st and 2nd because of the 22nd Annual Flower & Garden Expo. At the St. Johns County Agricultural Center, this family-friendly event hosts a variety of vendors that will provide everything you need to start or better your garden. Native plants, butterfly plants, vibrant flowers, herbs, succulents, and more will be available for purchase. There will be a children’s area for crafts, face painting and more to entertain the little ones.



    2. Old Town Art Show ~ Spring


    St. Augustine loves its art, so every season the city hosts the Old Town Art Show. April 8th and 9th at Francis Field, artists and craftsmen from all over Northeast florida and around the country. To ensure a well-rounded and diverse art show, the jury committee selects the best artwork submitted in multiple categories. There will be beautiful jewelry to funky and useful pottery to breathtaking sculptures. You’ll stop and stare at the spectacular glass, amazing photography and carefully crafted wood carvings.


    3. Easter Egg Hunts


    Throughout the entire month of April, there will be multiple Easter egg hunts throughout St. Augustine. If you miss a weekend, do not fret! Your family will have the opportunity to find eggs because many organizations or churches will be hosting Easter egg hunting events. Some cost money and some have free entry!




    4. Blessing of the Fleet


    Spring sets sail in St. Augustine with Blessings of the Fleet. Beginning at the Cathedral Basilica, everyone is invited to view this spectacular event. This historical ceremony dates back to when the Spanish colonies occupied the city. On Palm Sunday, the city invites all vessels and watercrafts to receive a safe-journey blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine. People are encouraged to decorate their boats with flags and bunting.




    5. Sunday Promenade


    Easter Sunday Promenade celebrates Easter and St. Augustine history in the community. Easter Festival Committee sponsors the event and makes sure there is fun for the whole family including contests for Best Dressed Pet, Most Creative Hat, Best Dressed Couple and more! Prizes are handed out at the end and everyone is welcome to participate in the contest. This all takes place before the big Easter Parade in the oldest city.



    6. Easter Parade


    The nation’s second oldest Easter parade, the Parada de los Caballos y Coches (Parade of Horses and Carriages) is in our very own St. Augustine. This annual Easter celebration has taken place since 1956. Everyone is welcome to join the history and culture celebration. Marching bands, floats, drill teams, the Easter Bunny, the Royal Family and carriage horses come out to welcome the viewers beginning at 3 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16th , 2017.




    7. Pepine Realty St. Augustine Grand Opening
